Continuing the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus tradition of performing a Bach passion at Easter, Bach’s St John Passion is regarded as some of the greatest sacred music ever written. Using text from chapters 18 and 19 of St John’s Gospel this is the earliest of Bach’s surviving Passions telling the drama of Jesus’s suffering and crucifixion. Conducted by Gavin Carr, the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus are joined by Bournemouth Chamber Orchestra and international soloists including Evangelist Mark Wilde and Christus Stephen Gadd.
